Born on December 24, 1959, Anil Kapoor lived in a chawl in Mumbai. His dad Surinder Kapoor was secretary to Shammi Kapoor and later a film producer. The family is related to Bollywood’s illustrious Kapoor khandaan. Anil made his debut in Hamare Tumhare in 1979, and later starred in Shakti along with Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. Anil Kapoor’s father Surinder Kapoor passes away

Producer Surinder Kapoor, father of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor and producer Boney Kapoor, passed away in Mumbai on Saturday, September 24. He was 84. Kapoor, who had produced films like Woh 7 Din, Judai, Pukar, Hum Paanch and No Entry, suffered a cardiac arrest.”I’m at Surinderji’s house right now. He had gone for a walk in the evening. He came back, drank a glass of water and while he was untying the laces of his shoes, he suffered a heart attack and died on the spot,” Anees Bazmee, the director of Kapoor’s production venture No Entry, said. Kapoor was the president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India from 1995 to 2001 and was also felicitated with the L.V. Prasad Phalke Award in 2009.
