Ranbir Kapoor birthday special: a superstar in the making

The Rockstar actor, who turns 29 today, is taking baby steps towards becoming the best actor of his generation
Coming from the industry’s first film family, there were very high expectations riding on him right from his first film Saawariya. Even though the film tanked at the box office, Ranbir Kapoor got great reviews from the audience and the critics. There has been no looking back for the actor since then. The soundtrack of Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar is quite different from the kind of rock music we have been used to in Bollywood. Unlike London Dreams, Dev.D and Rock On, which were in the grunge and popular rock zone, AR Rahman’s music in this film is more spiritual. It is quite an unusual fusion of Sufi, qawwali and rock. No wonder the director deemed it fit to launch the music of his film at the Hazrat Nizamuddin durgah. Ranbir’s character is seen going through a spiritual as well a romantic journey, as he rises to fame as a rockstar. Click here to read more
