RASCALS quick review: Never ending saga of cheap jokes

Though David Dhawan films are beyond reviews and criticism of any kind, but Rascals is a mind-numbing torture all through. The film begins with an animation where both the characters of both the rascals, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn are explained and that is where the film should have ended because once it starts it just doesn’t seem to end. Rascals is about two conmen Chetan Chauhan (Dutt) and Bhagat Bhosle (Devgn). They begin by conning each other and then fall in love with the same girl who cons them in return. That’s exactly what the film is about but it goes on and on till you doze off or decide to walk out in protest.

FORCE movie review: Flop story of a cop

John Abraham’s latest film is just another action movie with a trite concept

If you want to enjoy watching the brawny men in the movie, you have to leave your brains behind. John Abraham, who portrays the role of a narcotics cop (Yashwardhan), may have made a concerted effort to throw a heavy bike around and treat it like a piece of toy, but the beefy hunk is unable to make this three-hour-or-so movie work and arouse even the remotest of emotions. Playing the role of an impassive cop, John doesn’t do much, apart from being himself and throwing his hulky weight around, pun intended! Click here to read more

SAHI DHANDHE GALAT BANDE review: Sahi hai, boss!

Parvin Dabas goes the sahi way with his new film. And, in spite of a glitch here and there, it works!

The movie unspools with a brief note on what the Land Acquisition Act is all about. Trying to comprehend the complexity of the issue from a layman’s point of view, it gets much simpler to grasp as the movie gradually moves on and presents a bigger picture in a lighthearted way. Parvin Dabas (Rajbir) yawns his way out after spending a year in prison. The handsome hunk heads a team of goons who Click here to read more

SINGHAM REVIEW: When Ajay Devgn channelled Rajinikanth

It’s got the right dose of every emotion essential for entertainment, but it’s chock-full of clichés and fast becoming a diet that palls

Rohit Shetty’s Singham is about an honest, diligent and righteous cop, Bajirao Singham, a Maratha, played by the robust looking Ajay Devgn (sorry Salman, right now the Devgn dude boasts of a better body!). He has a happy existence in a small town called Shivgad, located between the borders of Karnataka and Goa. Singham resolves the local people’s fights and differences over a cup of chai and conversation. He is the fave man of every Shivgad resident. Click here to read more

ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA REVIEW: A trip to Spain in vain

The quality of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Zoya Akhtar’s second film, isn’t anywhere close to that of her debut, Luck by Chance, which was a wonderfully layered story about Bollywood aspirants

Though many have been trying to compare Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) with Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai (DCH), that would be a disservice to India’s cult coming-of-age film. Click here to read more
