After ‘Rockstar’ success, Ranbir Kapoor hikes fees

After ‘Rockstar’ success, Ranbir Kapoor hikes fees

Rockstar may not have done as well as – 3 Idiots or Bodyguard – at the box-office, but Ranbir Kapoor’s stellar performance has boosted his market value but it got a very good opening. So trade pundits feel that the next successor of the ‘superstar’ tag has arrived. Critics feel RK junior has talent and charisma that enthrall a large audience which will guarantee better returns on a film. For a very long time only the Khans – Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir – followed by Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan possessed such magnetic powers. As a result, rumour is that the Rockstar actor has doubled his fees from Rs 8 crores to Rs 15 crores. Apparently, the Khans charge close to Rs 30 crores along with profit shares, Ajay and Hrithik command Rs 20 crores per film. That means, if Ranbir continues with the steady growth as a performer and at the box-office he will soon be matching salaries with the top guns!

Ranbir Kapoor’s first world tour in August 2012

Ranbir Kapoor’s first world tour in August 2012

After singing and dancing in front of hundreds during the Rockstar promotion tours across the country, Ranbir Kapoor seems ready to handle a bigger number of screaming fans. Finally, the talented actor’s most-talked about world tour comprising of series of concerts in US, Canada and Europe will happen in August 2012. Earlier it was scheduled for this year, but rumour has it that Ranbir felt he did not have enough hit songs and did not want to end up dancing on songs of other actors. But now after Rockstar, the film has many concert-worthy songs and RK has done a rock-style stage show in the film and during the promotions, he seems ready. And by the time the show happens Anurag Basu’s Barfee too will have released. Initially, all of Ranbir’s leading ladies: Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Sonam were to be a part of it. But now that his relationship is no longer same with Katrina and Sonam, we wonder if they will be a part of it. Anyway, this will be one hell of a world tour to watch out; obviously because it will be RK’s first world performance but it’s the sizzling chemistry between the ladies in the green room that we are more interested in.

ROCKSTAR Quick Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor’s best!

But a lot has to happen in the second half for it to be a great film
BollywoodLife’s film critic is watching Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar right now, and texted us in the interval saying the film is Ranbir Kapoor’s best yet, with a heartwarming cameo by Shammi Kapoor. The ladies aren’t bad, either. Here is what his message read: “(Rockstar) Starts with a troubled Jordan at his peak. Then flashback to his journey. Beautiful visuals. Ranbir’s best. Shammi Kapoor’s cameo heartwarming. Nargis overacts but decent debut. Not much has happened till interval but has been a fun ride. Witty dialogues. Prague stuns. Aditi Rao shines. Lot has to happen in 2nd half for it to be a great film. So far, so good.” Click here to read more

ROCKSTAR Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor excels, Nargis Fakhri is promising

ROCKSTAR Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor excels, Nargis Fakhri is promising

Director Imtiaz Ali won half the battle when he got AR Rahman to compose the music for his film. Ranbir Kapoor helps him conquer the other half
So you’ve seen the promos and think you know what the film’s about? Actually, there’s a lot more to it. Rockstar is not just a journey of an aspiring musician. It also charts the main lead’s spiritual path and highlights that just making it big in life doesn’t lead to inner happiness. Inspired by the writings of Sufi poet Rumi, the film is layered and delivers the goods without getting boring. Click here to read more
