It’s been five long years for Shahrukh Khan in the Indian Premier League. Five years of bearing criticism about his team Kolkata Knight Riders’ poor performance on the field. Five years of swatting questions about Sourav Ganguly’s presence and later absence. That’s why Shahrukh’s actions at the Subroto Roy Sahara Stadium at Pune last evening (May 22) had us smiling.

KKR defeated Delhi Daredevils to enter the finals for the first time in five years. Shahrukh quickly went on the grounds and ran a victory lap. KKR team members joined him and SRK hugged each one of them. They in turn carried him and cheered. The magnanimous owner that he is, SRK shook hands with every member of the losing team too. His bowling coach Wasim Akram endorsed the Badshaah’s joy saying that SRK deserved it for all the hard work he’s put in. Wethink it was great to see the actor emboldened after the recent controversies. He was banned from entering the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after a late night brawl and summoned by the Rajasthan police for smoking in a stadium at Jaipur. Looks like the actor has put all that behind him and is ready to move on. Makes us wonder what Khan will do if his team actually wins the tournament. We foresee a big Bollywood bash to celebrate the victory!

IPL party girl Rozlyn Khan, who has done no significant work in the glamour field, voices her opinion on the Kolkata Knight Riders’ owner Shahrukh Khan and his latest scuffle at the Wankhede stadium. Now, that’s a novel way to get attention, no? The dishy babe claims that Shahrukh had defamed IPL matches. “Shahrukh Khan has given a bad name to IPL. Frankly speaking, all these pangas and scandals didn`t happen during the IPL matches, they happened either after a match, or during the after-parties. But all these things have earned a bad reputation for IPL,” said Rozlyn in an interview.

The model also trashed Bangalore Royal Challengers’ owner, Siddharth Mallya for belittling Zohal Hameed on a microblogging site. She called him ill-mannered and cheap for insulting Zohal in a public forum. While a few aspects that the sexy babe points out surely make sense, we’d advise Rozlyn to claim her fame in a more legitimate way…don’t you agree?

Shahrukh Khan’s late night fight has proved costly for him. The superstar has been banned from entering the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai for five years for allegedly breaking the rules of the ground and abusing security personnel.

The incident occurred after SRK’s team Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Mumbai Indians in the league match of the Indian Premiere League 5 tournament. The Mumbai Cricket Association officials immediately called for a ban, but the decision was made official only today. The head of the MCA, Vilasrao Deshmukh, announced the decision this morning. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reserves the right to repeal the ban, said IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh has denied that he misbehaved on the grounds. In fact, he stated in a press conference yesterday that the security guards and other MCA officials were manhandling the children under his care and that’s why he turned verbally abusive. He also flatly refused to apologise to the MCA and said he couldn’t care less if they banned him from the stadium. “They should apologise to me. This is extremely high-handed behaviour. Personally, if this is the kind of behaviour meted out to people, I wouldn’t want to go there. Let them decide…extreme attitude of highhandedness,” he insisted.

The MCA registered a complaint with the local police station, and Shahrukh has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

Meanwhile, support of SRK for his actions has been unwavering from friends and family, but fans have been objecting to his behaviour. Will this signal a negative wave against the superstar? We wait to find out…

While the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has been hurling allegations at Shahrukh Khan for his abusive behaviour under the influence of alcohol at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night, SRK has made it clear that he and his children were mistreated in the name of security. SRK did not deny being abusive but he said that he got angry for a reason. Apart from the fact that his children were being pushed around, Khan has also said that while other Indian Premier League owners (read the Ambanis – owners of Mumbai Indians) are allowed to move around freely on the field, he was targeted on purpose.

A photojournalist, who was present when the scuffle took place, has also come out in defence of Khan, saying that the security personnel were misbehaving and forcefully made him delete pictures that captured the scenes.

While Shahrukh Khan’s fans have been expressing disappointment saying that SRK should have kept his cool and been more responsible, many of his star friends have said that security scuffles of this kind are not rare. And that the incident has been blown out of proportion because SRK is a star.

Shahrukh Khan’s Bengal connection begun with his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and the bond got stronger when he was made the brand ambassador for the state. Since then, West Bengal has been his second home and he has been brainstorming with creative professionals and government officials to come up with a suitable ad campaign to promote the state as a great holiday destination and a profitable place to invest in.

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has already shot three ad films for Rose Valley Group’s resorts around Bengal with the SRK. In a recent interview Chowdhury said, “We discussed the script a week in advance and then shot with Shah Rukh in Mumbai on April 20. While the ads were co-directed by Dibyendu Bose, capturing the man in action was Setu’s (of Kahaani fame) camera.” There is still some time before the advertisements are aired, but the buzz is that it is in the same league as Amitabh Bachchan’s Gujarat Tourism ads.

If our sources are to be believed, many reputed filmmakers in Kolkata have approached King Khan with their scripts in a bid to cast him in their films. Though Shahrukh hasn’t officially agreed to do any of the films which have been offered to him, he is certainly toying with the idea of signing the dotted line. Wethinks it would be great to see him serenade a Bong beauty on the big screen. Tell us if you too would like to see SRK in a Bengali film.

Will Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan ever be friends again?

During the Indian Premiere League’s match held on Sunday at Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur, Shahrukh Khan fluttered some dovecotes in the Pink City. Anand Singh Rathore, director of Jaipur Cricket Academy, has filed a complaint against the stadium authorities for letting the badshah of Bollywood openly smoke in the audience box of the stadium.

The cricket head’s grievance is that common people aren’t allowed something as basic as a bottle of water inside the stadium, but the superstar was allowed to carry his pack of cigarettes and even smoke it.

This isn’t the first time that SRK’s vice has irked anti-smokers. Remember when he was chosen the ‘Best living role model’ by the youth of India in a nationwide poll, a section of the society was annoyed as they felt SRK didn’t deserve the honour because he has one of the worst habits – smoking? While we do think that smoking is a bad habit, we also feel that the anti-smoking campaigners are making a mountain out of a molehill only because the RA.One actor is a superstar. At the same time, there shouldn’t be different diktats for stars and the common people, right? After all it’s the commoners who make the stars! So do ya think SRK should be banned from lighting the cancer stick in the stadium?

Shahrukh Khan has been on the starting end of so many fights – hurting Juhi Chawla by not giving due credit to her brother Bobby for his work on RA.One (or so she claimed), slapping Shirish Kunder, insulting Salman Khan at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party, throwing Aishwarya Rai out of his movie Chalte Chalte – we’ve lost count. And these are just the more recent ones. However, we are sure his latest move will delight not only his fans but those of Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and several other cricketers. The two-week row between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Sahara group was resolved with lots of help from Shahrukh.

You may recall how Sahara had threatened to stop sponsoring the Indian national men’s cricket team if the BCCI did not accede to its demands. Tough negotiations have been going on for the past two weeks, with bigwigs from both sides not willing to budge. That’s when Shahrukh decided to step in and motivated the two sides to look at the larger picture – the future of Indian cricket – and work towards their common goal. He urged them to continue negotiations peacefully instead of walking away for petty reasons. BCCI president N Srinivasan and Union Minister Rajiv Shukla acknowledged the actor’s contribution to the process and have thanked him publicly.

Surprisingly, Shahrukh preferred to remain in the background on this one and refused to comment on the issue when he recently unveiled the new logo of his Indian Premier League team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Instead, the team’s co-owner Juhi Chawla and he smiled and assured everyone they are still friends. We wonder what has brought about this sudden humility in the actor. Maybe he finally looked around, realised he’s quickly losing his friends in the industry and decided to do something about it. Whatever the reason, we are happy to see this side of him.
