Gauri Khan, a Bollywood star?
Choreographer Shiamak Davar says Mrs Shahrukh Khan could give all the top heroines of Bollywood a run for their money
That Shahrukh Khan’s better half Gauri is a good dancer and a former student of Shiamak Davar’s school is no secret. In fact, if those born before 2000 will think back, it was she who introduced her husband to Shiamak all those years ago. And SRK in turn introduced Shiamak – who had only helmed dance classes and done stage shows till then – to Bollywood choreography. Before that, the dancer-guru had been approached for an Aamir Khan film and a Mani Ratnam project, both of which never happened. So the master of dance is obviously indebted to SRK and Gauri, and still speaks highly of Gauri as a student. Click here to read more
Shiamak Davar: There are too many camps and too much politics in Bollywood
Behind Davar’s optimistic and astute veneer resides a soft-hearted man who thrives on spirituality and breathes dance for his subsistence. As we indulge in a tête-à-tête with the grooving guru, we discover what makes him move, and while some facets surprise us to the hilt, the rest simply help us know more about this ‘just-another-Parsi-bawa’ turned successful dancer…
Shiamak Davar’s sentences are incomplete without affectionate words like ‘dear’ and ‘darling’. And this is perhaps one of the reasons why you feel a certain close connect with the man who places you in a comfort zone, even over the phone, no matter who you are. So while we start the confab with a clichéd question by asking about the number of Bollywood projects on his we-thought-full plate, Davar reacts with a hearty laugh and then gradually settles for a much serious tone with a bald “None.” Click here to read more

Tarana Raja: I’ve never regretted doing a Balaji show
Acting, hosting, radio-jockeying, dancing – what do you enjoy doing most?
I like doing it all. If you have tons of energy, you pretty much enjoy doing everything. I just cannot decide which one to focus on.
Does the lack of focus lead to problems?
It does. But it keeps me busy. It also doesn’t make me rely on any one stream of income. So you have ups and downs like everybody in the entertainment business has, but I usually keep myself safer by having that many different interests. Even if I may not have a show on the air, I would be still working…but that’s the good side. The flip side is that people sometimes get confused as to what to take you as – like a lot of people know me as RJ Tarana, and it’s a pleasant revelation (I hope) when they realise that I am also Neha from Bade Acche Lagte Hain. And the people who’ve known me as an actor all these years would have no clue that I am an RJ – unless they’re living in Mumbai. But I think of it as another dimension to me and it makes people happy. Click here to read more
