Actor Anupam Kher is a true globetrotter. One day he’s at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards, posing alongside Robert De Niro for their film Silver Linings Playbook, and the other, he is back in India to promote Special 26 in New Delhi. The thespian tweeted a picture of him along with actors Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal and director Neeraj Pandey. The 85th Oscar Awards nominations list was declared yesterday, and three films with an Indian connect have been selected. Steven Spielberg’s presidential drama Lincoln, produced by Reliance DreamWorks, is the frontrunner for the Academy Awards with 12 citations, while Ang Lee’s Life of Pi starring Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan and Tabu follows close behind with 11 nominations, it was announced early Thursday. Mumbai’s fave film event kickstarted with some star power
The much-awaited 14th Mumbai Film Festival kickstarted at NCPA, Mumbai on Thursday, October 19 with Bollywood celebrities like Jaya Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Anupam Kher and Sridevi in attendance for the star-studded opening ceremony. Actor Sridevi, Jaya and filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker and Ramesh Sippy, along with Shyam Benegal, chairman of organising body Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), lit the ceremonial lamp for the eight-day cine extravaganza.
