OH MY FRIEND Movie Review: Siddharth and Shruti Haasan rock in a stale tale

Oh My Friend is watchable but be prepared for a predictable story line

After a gap of five years, actor Siddharth and producer Dil Raju have teamed up again in Oh My Friend. Earlier, Raju had produced Bommarillu, starring Siddharth and Genelia D’Souza, and it was a superhit. Naturally, this venture was running high on expectations and with Siddharth sharing screen space with his ex-girlfriend Shruti Haasan, the film had already generated a lot of hype, much before its release. 7aam Arivu box office: Beats Suriya’s own ‘Singam’

Suriya is on seventh heaven thanks to the collections of 7aam Arivu, despite the mixed reviews to the film

Tamil star Suriya is one happy man these days as his latest release 7aam Arivu has done good business and the actor says the film is a bigger grosser than Singam. “Singam was my biggest commercial hit but 7aam Arivu has collected that amount in the first 10 days itself,” said the actor adding that, “People across the world have seen it and responded overwhelmingly. 7aam Arivu: Suriya and Shruti Haasan sizzle

Suriya and Shruti Haasan star in 7aam Arivu, directed by AR Murugadoss of Ghajini fame. Suriya essays three roles in the movie – a trapeze artiste, a Buddhist monk and a scientist. Like Shahrukh Khan’s RA.One, this film is also a sci-fi thriller, the story revolving around a time machine. Suriya’s look in the film is similar to his Ghajini look, with six-pack abs and a toned body. But in 7aam Arivu, he also sports a mop of long hair. Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan plays the leading lady in this Tamil film. 7aam Arivu will be dubbed in Telugu and might even remade in Hindi with Aamir Khan, who also starred in Murugadoss’ Ghajini remake. Karnataka State Film Awards for Vishnuvardhan, Anu Prabhakar

The Karnataka State awards for the year 2009-10 have been announced

Late actor Vishnuvardhan (posthumous) and Anu Prabhakar have bagged the best actor and best actress award for their performances in Aptharakshaka and Pareekshe respectively. Rasarishi Kuvempu directed by debutant Ritwick Simha bagged the best first film award. Manasaare directed by Yogaraj Bhatt and Love Guru directed by debutant Prashanth Raj were adjudged the second best and the third best film respectively. The Dr Rajkumar Award for Lifetime Achievement, SR Puttanna Kanagal Award for Lifetime Achievement in Direction and Dr Vishnuvardhan Award for Lifetime Achievement in Production has been conferred to veterans RN Sudarshan, CV Shivashankar and SD Ankalagi respectively. Girish Kasaravalli’s Kanasembo Kudureyaneri, which has bagged some national and international awards including the best actor for Vyjanath Biradaar at the Madrid International Film Festival, has been rejected outright by the Dwarakish committee. Shruthi Haasan won’t be starring opposite NTR Junior’s new project Dammu, directed Boyapati Srinu. Hold on. Now, don’t jump the gun. ‘Lifeu Ishtene’ runs into censor trouble after release

The Regional Board of Film Certification has filed a complaint against Lifeu Ishtene‘s producers for addition and deletion of some scenes

Kannada film Lifeu Ishtene, which is now wowing audiences in packed houses, was to last two hours and twenty minutes after the censor board gave its approval a couple of months back. Later, the crew thought the film was dragging on and shortened it to two hours and eight minutes.
