AGNEEPATH movie review: Hrithik Roshan lifts the film
Hrithik Roshan’s understated yet powerful performance and Rishi Kapoor’s strong portrayal of the baddie shine through in this otherwise lacklustre remake
There are great expectations from Agneepath for three main reasons: it is a remake of an Amitabh Bachchan flick, it’s produced by Karan Johar and has a huge starcast. But I wonder why? In any case the original Agneepath had tanked at the box office at first, only to have been recognised as a cult classic later. In a way, this one’s not just a remake. Director Karan Malhotra has taken the basic plot and played around with it. Click here to read more

Hrithik Roshan eager to show ‘Agneepath’ remake to Big B
Amitabh Bachchan, the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, will be called for a special preview of Agneepath
If Hrithik Roshan is eagerly awaiting the release of Agneepath, he is equally keen to show the film to the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Amitabh Bachchan. “I think once the film is ready for previews, he will be the first person we will call,” said Hrithik who reprises Amitabh’s role in the Agneepath remake.
The original, directed by Mukul Anand, came in 1990 and Big B had won a National Film Award for his performance in the movie. While the original Agneepath was produced by Yash Johar, the remake is being financed by the late filmmaker’s son, Karan Johar. Click here to read more
Who’s a better Vijay Deenanath Chauhan: Hrithik Roshan or Amitabh Bachchan?
Although the makers of Agneepath have maintained right since the start that there’s not an iota of similarity between the original Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and the new one (Big B and Hrithik Roshan), wethink that despite the style change, the age difference, the variation in the characters and more, there are certain aspects that remain the same, without which the intense Vijay Deenanath Chauhan wouldn’t be the man he is…
The style: However ironic it may be, a colour like white, which represents peace and tranquility, has been used to style the two angry protagonists in the movie. While Big B strutted around in monochrome virgin white suits in the original film, Hrithik is seen in casual white shirts that he keeps slightly unbuttoned at the neck and teamed with a vest. Hrithik is dressed more like a street guy, while Big B has this don-like demeanour. The mannerisms are obviously different, but the inherent characteristics of Vijay can’t be changed. They both are vindictive and go through an ordeal that makes them intense yet silent sufferers. Click here to read more
