Our man Karthik was shot by the cops and died in the hospital while saving his sister Priya. But wait….why is Natasha Kapoor wailing?

It all came to head last night on the Hindi soap Bade Acche Lagte Hain. Ram Kapoor, his little sister Natasha Kapoor and brother Rishab have mustered up a posse of policemen to nab Karthik Sharma, who is back in town and promising to meet his sister Priya Kapoor. Somewhere in the proceedings, Karthik – who has some explaining to do apropos his two wives, Jhanvi and Natasha, and one son – finds out that the cops are hot on his trail and starts running. His pregnant sister Priya runs after him, but collapses in pain in the middle of the street; typically, the passers-by keep passing by and pay little attention to the fallen woman. Karthik grabs his infant son and runs to the car where Ayesha – yes, the villain of this little piece – is waiting to help him make a getaway…or does she have something more slimy and nasty in mind? Aha, so he chooses to flee instead of remembering family loyalty, right? We thought that too, really!

But no, Karthik puts the child in the car and runs back to pick Priya up, bringing her to the passenger side and settling her in, the baby on her lap. He pulls Ayesha out and starts getting in to drive. And hey, the cops finally arrive! With the expected competency of onscreen policemen, one of them shoots Karthik in the shoulder and then proceeds to lose the trail as our man drives off, making a real mess of the car with his blood. In the hospital, he insists Priya is taken care of, the baby is looked after and his familial bond is the redeeming factor to his image, before he collapses in a welter of what looks suspiciously like ketchup and dies. At least, we think he is dead – a whole bunch of people stands around looking ineffective while Natasha throws herself on her (late?) husband’s chest and wails. Ram stands in the crowd looking as open-mouthedly bewildered as ever. The promos for today show the whole family turning up at the hospital and bawling….another half hour of fun is in store for us, we know!

So what happens next? We cannot wait to find out…..

The actor says his fans have always appreciated the different negative characters he’s played on TV

Actor Chetan Hansraj is back to playing a bad boy on the small screen with Jodha Akbar. He says his fans love watching him in negative roles. Moreover, “women love bad boys”!

“Playing the bad guy has never lost me any fans. In fact, my fans have always appreciated the different negative characters I have played and always send me their love and support. It is also said that women love bad boys, so isn’t that a win-win situation,” Chetan said in a statement.

The actor, who has portrayed a negative character in shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kkusum and Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, will be seen in the role of Adham Khan, the son of Maham Anga and foster brother to emperor Akbar, in the TV show.

Other auditions for the lead roles of the show took months, but Chetan is said to have been an immediate pick for the part.

What makes him enjoy negative roles? “There are many facets to playing a negative character onscreen. There are shades of grey along with the deep dark shades of negativity that one needs to portray,” he said.

Jodha Akbar, which goes on air tonight on Zee TV, is produced by Ekta Kapoor‘s Balaji Telefilms, a banner Chetan is very comfortable working with. “It’s an amazing experience working with them again. It always makes me feel like I’m working for my home production,” he said.

How did Diya Aur Bati Hum happen?

It was an hour-long audition. They called me ‘coz they liked my face and attitude.

Now that you are a celebrity, has your life changed?

Yes, life has definitely become easier. I have come to be my real self after gaining popularity from this show. I do not have to put on a show for anyone or show attitude. People have appreciated my honesty, my work and me. They not only like Suraj – my character – they also like Anas.

How different or similar are Anas and Suraj?

Actually, they are very similar. Today also, when I go back home, I still drive my old scooter and wear simple clothes, like I did earlier. People have liked me for my simplicity and I want to retain that.

Who do you owe your success to?

My family.

You are from Punjab; was language in TV shows a problem?

I was in Punjab my whole life; I had never stepped out of there before. I only spoke Punjabi, Hindi was never my forte. When I came to Mumbai I realised I had a strong accent, which created several problems during auditions. I had to work a lot on my diction. People loved my personality, but because of my language, I lost many opportunities.

How is your relationship with Bhabo – Neelu Vaghela?

She is like my ammi in Mumbai, off-screen.

How is your equation with Deepika Singh?

Deepika is a very easygoing artiste on the sets. She was relatively a fresher when she came, but we all tried to make her very comfortable. Now it is like a family unit.

Was it awkward doing intimate scenes with Deepika?

I don’t feel awkward at all. Deepika makes the scene so comfortable that it doesn’t even register that we are doing an intimate scene. We complement each other very well that way, even though there is a ten-year gap between us.

Is it true that you are not planning to marry any time soon?

I am just 33 years old. It’s a calculated decision to marry post 35. Right now, I want to concentrate only on my career.

So who will choose a bride for you?

My mom has given me the responsibility to choose my own bride. She trusts me to make the right choice.

So what’s your dream girl like?

I have no specifications like that. I don’t have any such demands; I will adjust with whoever comes into my life. It’s a partnership – she will take care of me and I will take care of her. I just hope that whoever comes into my life is a family person. I am not looking for a girl – I am looking for a suitable family.

There were rumours about Rati Pandey and you….is there any truth in that?

I don’t want to say we are friends and I don’t want to say that we are dating either. We are something in between. Rati is a very special friend for me. Our chemistry is very different and unique.

Tell us about your craziest fan experience.

I had a fan from Hyderabad who came to Mumbai to meet me. Initially I kept avoiding her, but she kept calling me from different numbers. After about nine days, I agreed to meet her. She was wearing a burkha. When she unveiled her face, I realised she was just 17 or 18. She was apparently staying at the bus stop for nine days. She had not bathed for days and was stinking. I called my friend and together we dropped her at the station with a ticket to Hyderabad. We told the ticket collector to not let her out until she reached Hyderabad.

What is your plan after Diya Aur Bati Hum?

I will get married, take a sabbatical and chill a little. I will then get back to work with a bang.

Any regrets?

My only regret is that I came too late to Mumbai. I should have come when I was 22 or 23.

The dance reality show Dance India Dance Super Moms may have given wings to several women and choreographer Marzi Pestonji, one of the judges on the show, says their life stories are shocking

The 15-week series airs on Zee TV. Mithun Chakraborty is seen in the role of Grand Master on the show.

“You will be stunned after hearing their stories… if you hear their stories, you will surely feel that you shouldn’t be complaining about things in your life… Actually, you cannot afford to complain,” said Marzi. “You will think that your problems are of zero importance in front of theirs. Their stories will shock you – girls getting married at 14, giving birth at 15 – it will make you think about the culture we live in,” he added.

The choreographer started his career on the small screen through Dance India Dance Doubles, where he judged the show along with choreographers Geeta Kapur and Rajeev Surti and later he judged Dance India Dance Li’l Masters 2. Now he is in the judges’ panel for Dance India Dance Super Moms along with Farah Khan and Terence Lewis.

Marzi says that the participants are quite talented and their performances are going to wow the viewers. “We have often heard women saying their husband or mothers-in-law do not support them, but on this show women have their husbands and mothers-in-law coming out to support them and standing by their side while they perform,” he said. “In fact, when we ask husbands how they will manage if their wives get selected, they say that they will take leave and stay at home,” he added.

How will the show benefit the participants? “The show is giving them a platform to achieve their dreams. They will be able to make a name for themselves,” he said.

The whole melodrama in Bade Acche Lagte Hain starts on Ram Kapoor and Priya Kapoor’s wedding anniversary. Jhanvi abandons her and Karthik’s baby at the party; when Ram calls the police to hand over the kid, Priya’s brother declares the child as his and accepts his infidelity.

Shocked by the revelations, Natasha takes to drinking and suddenly develops a hatred towards everyone including her in-laws and Priya – understandable in a situation like this! But Nuts goes overboard with her drama when she tries to throw the child out of the Sharma house and when her in-laws stop her nonsensical act, she files a case of physical abuse against them…Tch tch!

Everyone expects Ram to talk sense into Chhoti (Natasha), but when emotionally blackmailed by Nuts, the stout man keeps his mouth shut. He decides to let his in-laws rot in jail to keep his sister happy. In addition to this, he sends Karthik’s illegitimate kid to an orphanage.

While all this drama is going on, the real culprit behind the whole fiasco is hiding in Singapore. He abandoned both his wives, parents and even his kid – what a man! Now both the families try to emotionally blackmail Karthik and bring him back to India.

On the one hand, there is Karthik, who cheated on his wife, lied to his family, married and cheated his second wife too and abandoned everyone and ran away. Wethinks the man needs to be punished severely. However, from an entirely different viewpoint, Natasha is wrong too, no? She aborted a kid when she was pregnant, never got punished for it, put her in-laws behind bars, is punishing an innocent newborn baby now and creating a rift between Ram and Priya.

According to sources, the fights between the Sharmas and Kapoors – obviously instigated by Ayesha – will result in not one but two divorces, Natasha and Karthik’s and Ram and Priya’s. And somehow in the whole fiasco Karthik will lose his life.

The Former Indian skipper was shown the exit door on Saturday’s elimination episode

Krishnamachari Srikkanth was bought in place of Eijaz Khan on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. But the cricketer didn’t last for a very long time. Although the judges had a gala time watching his entertaining antics, the former sportsman lost out on public votes. In the elimination episode Srikkanth made sure he spreads some cheer before leaving. He was seen indulging in some fun dancing along with Madhuri Dixi. The two danced on didi tera dewar from Hum Aapke Hai Kaun. Well, he didn’t stop there, he also asked Remo and Karan to join him on stage for a quick booty shaking session. He was in the bottom three along with Shweta Tiwari and Karanvir Bohra. After Suresh Menon, Srikkanth is the second contestant to leave the show.

It seems the reel life love affair has got them close in real life too

Rumour has it that Sony TV’s popular couple Amita and Amit aka Chandani Bhagwanani and Nishad Vaidya are seeing each other in real life too. While the couple is vehemently denying the story, we know there is no smoke without fire, no?

It seems Chandani and Nishad share great onscreen camaraderie and it spills on to their real life too. The duo spends a lot of time together after shots. In fact, after Amita Ka Amit’s shoot schedule Nishad makes it a point to drop Chandani home every day. They don’t deny that they are best friends, but we have to wonder, is there more to it than what meets the eye!

When queried about his relationship with Chandani, Nishad says that his co-star is a sweetheart and indeed very special to him. However, it’s not love yet. So does that mean that the relationship might bloom in the near future? Wethinks, the couple are in the initial stages of their…ahem ahem…relationship and no one has voiced the obvious. Chandani too claims that they are not in love, yet. But we just can’t seem to ignore the evident bond they share.

It is a coincidence or planned murder?

We like to get into the drama of the whole thing and the recent track of Bade Acche Lagte Hai provides us just enough of that, don’t you agree?

Natasha is doing everything in her power to teach Karthik a lesson for cheating on her. She sent his parents to jail, gave his kid up for adoption and will very soon put him behind bars as well. While Karthik still loves Natasha, he is miffed with her for aborting his child, troubling his parents and being inhuman to an infant.

While the situation is getting worse by minute, Natasha will get a word that Karthik has met with an accident. Sources confirm that Karthik will be killed in this road crash, and his track will end. Wethinks the daily soap would be a tad interesting if it was not an accident, but murder – just imagine the drama then.

BALH has been killing off people in accidents whenever they have wanted to end a character. Eva Grover who played Niharika was killed in the same manner followed by Chahat Khanna who was initially cast as Ayesha and now Chirag Thakkar aka Karthik – isn’t it getting a bit too redundant?

Wethinks the writers should consider making this a murder instead, but who will stoop this low for a revenge? Will it be Natasha – for obvious reasons, or Ayesha – ‘coz we really don’t expect anything much from her. Or will Ram Kapoor be the one to kill Karthik for ruining his li’l sister’s life? You never know, maybe Priya Kapoor could be the one behind it all ‘coz Karthik is the sole reason for all the troubles in her marriage.

Succumbing to public demand, it seems the makers have decided to unite the two lovebirds and welikes it

Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta has seen Arjun (Rithvik Dhanjani) and Purvi (Asha Negi) struggling with their feelings for each other, no matter how much they deny it. Since both are married to someone else, these feelings are termed as illegitimate. But with Ovi (Shruti Kanwar)- who has migrated to Canada – almost out of Arjun’s life, there seems a small ray of hope in this relationship.

And the best part is, Purvi’s husband – the ever understanding Onir (Shakti Arora) – will apparently be the cupid who will bring these two lovers back together. According to rumour mills, Onir will pretend to be the bad guy and indirectly unite Arjun and Purvi. Once the couple is back together, he will go back to rekindle his romance with Shalini (Maneka Lalwani), his first wife. Awww… now isn’t that just too sweet!

Doyel speaks from Ajmer where she visited the famous dargah and offered prayers before the MasterChef India: Kitchen Ke Superstar grand finale

A mother of a two-year-old boy and a pampering housewife, Doyel Sarangi from Kolkata is a finalist on TV cooking reality show MasterChef India – Kitchen Ke Superstar season 3. Whether she wins or not, she hopes she is able to set an example for women who have talent but it remains within the four walls of their house.

Her father introduced Doyel to the world of cooking at a young age, and her passion for it just continues to grow. She says cooking gives her a nasha (high). “As a homemaker, my day used to start and end with cooking. I used to keep trying different dishes and made my friends and relatives eat the food. But I was always cooking within a daayra (boundary),” Doyel said in Ajmer at an interaction.

“My husband and family pushed me to go out and cook on a bigger platform and showcase my talent. I think everyone should break boundaries and I hope people, especially women, look up to me as an example and step out to show their talent,” she added.

Doyel is currently among the three finalists of MasterChef – Kitchen Ke Superstar. She is competing with Delhi-based Ripudaman Handa and Navneet Rastogi from Varanasi for the title. The finale episode will be aired on Star Plus on Friday, June 14.

Doyel visited the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer on June 10 with other finalists to pray for her “dreams” to come true. “It’s a do or die situation,” she said, adding, “I’m the only girl in the finalists, so please vote and make me win!”

Doyel, who is lively and a go-getter, says if she manages to win MasterChef, she will first buy a house for her nuclear family. “We live in rented accomodation as of now. Also, I would like to make a fixed deposit for my son. I want to host cookery workshops and want to learn all sorts of cuisines,” she said.

But an ultimate dream that she harbours is to open a restaurant where kids have no restriction on the way they eat or conduct themselves. “There will be books and toys, and kids can do what they want, mess around…that’s the kind of restaurant I’d like to open,” said Doyel, who is a professional at cooking any fish dish.
