Champions – A talent show for the differently-abled

It’s a platform meant just for them and to showcase their hidden talents

For ages, reality and talent shows have been showcasing differently-abled contestants, however, they fail to reach the top spot because the judges and the audience wish to avoid success on the basis of sympathy. But things have started to change.

A new show titled Champions has already gone on air down South, which is a platform for only such special and talented contestants. The one hour long show is telecast on Sun GECs including Sun TV, Gemini TV, Surya TV and Udaya TV in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

And that’s not even the best part of the show yet. The talent show will have four rounds in all, where the participants will get to showcase their talent. Every round will have prize money allotted for it so that even if a particular contestant doesn’t manage to go ahead he or she will go back home with some money. Now that’s a win-win situation, no?

The judges of the show include names like Pattimandram Raja for Sun TV, Gauthami and Naga Babu for Gemini TV, Laxmi and MG Sreekumar for Surya TV, and Laxmi and Srinath for Udaya TV.

We wonder when the Hindi GECs will start something novel like this on their channels. Imagine if the Hindi channels take this initiative, it would boost and encourage so many differently-abled people, right!
