Rajshri Productions will bring its trademark family drama to the small screen

Even as rumours about his next film with Salman Khan do the rounds, Sooraj Barjatya is busy launching two newbies this month – albeit on the small screen. Nakuul Mehta, who made his Bollywood debut with Haal-e-Dil and newbie Disha Parmar will play the lead roles in Rajshri Productions’ latest show, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. The show will replace Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein on Star Plus.

The family drama will showcase two families – a broken one to which Aditya (Nakuul Mehta) belongs and a joint family from where Pankhudi (Disha Parmar) hails. The two have had totally different kinds of upbringing which has affected the way they view love. Kavita Barjatya, who is producing the show, said that the USP of Pyaar Ka Dard Hai… is the story that brings these two completely opposite individuals together. “Pankhudi believes in long-lasting love but Aditya doesn’t. When he meets her for the first time, the first question he asks her is, ‘When we get divorced, how much percentage of property and bonds do you want?’ Pankhudi then shows him what love is all about,” she revealed. The show also stars Mukesh Khanna as Aditya’s grandfather, the only person who understands the young man.

From all that we’ve heard so far, it seems the storyline will give equal importance to Aditya and Pankhudi. Hopefully it will be a refreshing change from the women-oriented shows on air.
