This was a friendship everyone envied, but like other B-town relationships, this one too ended bitterly
Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan started their careers at around the same time and gave several hits together – from Deewana in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Ruk Jaa in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Mitwa in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and the very memorable Tum se milke in Main Hoon Na. So it was not at all surprising that when Farah decided to turn director, Shahrukh not only acted in the film, but he also produced it. Main Hoon Na became a huge hit and so did their next film together, Om Shanti Om. You can recapture their magic when you watch OSO on YouTube Boxoffice. Farah even went on to declare that she would not make a film without Shahrukh Khan. Fate, however, had other plans. Shahrukh was unable to do Farah’s husband Shirish Kunder’s film, and their relationship broke down. It further deteriorated when Farah did two things: she cast Shahrukh’s long-time rival Akshay Kumar in her third directorial venture Tees Maar Khan, and scripted in a scene embarrassing SRK into the film. Since then, the two have remained cordial in public but the previous bond is clearly missing. That unfortunately has also affected the way SRK fans remember OSO – with a twinge of sadness as it is the last film that he did with Farah. Hopefully, a day will come soon when they will bury their hatchet and come together again. With Farah’s TMK bombing at the BO and the two interacting quite playfully on the sets of a dance reality show recently, we guess that day might just come sooner than later.
