Rubina Dilaik emerged as the ultimate winner of Bigg Boss 14 but her shocking revelation to Salman Khan about having suicidal thoughts and suffering from depression, had raised many eyebrows. She has now opened up about how she dealt with her problematic situation which she went through 9 years ago.
"Unstable, over-ambitious, insecure, not knowing what to do. Not understanding how to handle professional life with personal life. Away from family, too much into work that did not give me time to make friends. In that situation, you just isolate yourself from the possibility of leading a happy, fulfilled life. That creates lack of empathy towards yourself," Rubina told Bollywood Bubble in an interview.
She continued, "You just cannot figure out what is happening. You start thinking 'why am I irritable, why is there no one around me. Why can I not achieve success'. Too many questions and no answers. There I realised that the problem is somewhere within. There is a lot that I cannot understand, but there is also nobody to guide me. We do not have formal education about it, no one talks about depression."
Rubina further said that she turned to self-help books and was listening to audio tapes. She said that having less work and troubled relationship was a blessing for her since it contemplated her to take up yoga and meditation. Eventually, she figured out how to get herself out of her mental situation.
During her stint, Rubina, who married Abhinav in 2018, had said that she was on the verge of divorcing Abhinav Shukla before entering the reality show. On the show, she had shared that they were about to get divorced and had given each other time till November, and that is the reason they decided to enter Bigg Boss 14 together.
Rubina came into the reality show with a huge fan base she had earlier garnered with her roles in shows such as Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Chotti Bahu, and she took home the Bigg Boss trophy plus Rs 36 lakh in the grand finale.
She was mercilessly trolled by social media users for reportedly being arrogant towards photographers who were taking her pictures, after a video of her at Mumbai airport surfaced. Rubina was called out as "ghamandi" (arrogant) and "high on attitude".
