Today, the 14th of January, marks the 20th anniversary since Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai had released and unleashed a storm across the nation unlike most films before or after have managed. And among the few that have managed to match its hysteria, none have done so with a debutant the lead actor. Such was the instant magic conjured by the phenomenon known as Hrithik Roshan that from the box-office to the audience's hearts to the harshest critics' reviews and from boardroom discussions to schoolyard recesses to postcards (you won't get the postcards bit if you're not a 90s kid) to designs on school bags and pencil boxes — there was one name and one name alone dominating everything: Hrithik Roshan.
Twenty years on, and Hrithik Roshan continues to rule the roost, proving that the phenomenon was not a passing phase, but a permanent fixture. Besides arriving with a bang in what is indubitably the biggest debut ever in the history of Indian cinema — and likely never to be emulated by another — and metamorphosing into a superstar quicker than any actor the world over has, Hrithik remained the only one to consistently challenge the indisputable box-office King through the first decade of his career, Shah Rukh Khan, and now, 2 decades hence, he also remains the only one to enjoy a hit ratio above 50% — higher than that of the Khans, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar.
(Note: We've taken a cut off of a minimum of twenty films for the analogy, otherwise the like of Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh will either match or better Hrithik's ratio with far lesser films, which simply isn't fair. It's better to wait and watch how far can they consistently sustain their hits over a longer period.)

Hrithik Roshan Box-Office Analysis Till Date:
Total Films: 24
Above Average: 0
Below Average: 1
Hit Ratio (semi-hit and better): 54.17%
Heck, even if we were to consider much junior stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, with far lesser films in their kitty, their hit ratio still doesn't match up to that of Hrithik's, going to a.) just how consistent he has been and b.) the kind of pull he has with the audience who keep flocking to his movies, regardless the fate of the actor's prior release. Another factor that needs to be highlighted is Hrithik Roshan's blockbuster count of 7 films — something no other Hindi-film actor has achieved over their first 24 films itself, making his blockbuster conversion ratio also the highest in Bollywood.
Today, being #20YearsOfKahoNaaPyaarHai and, inadvertently, #20YearsOfHrithikRoshan , one thing, one thing remains etched in stone: Hrithik Roshan was, is and continue to be one of the biggest superstars Indian cinema has ever seen. We hope the actor can prolong this enviable streak for as long as he can.
