When it comes to the box office, Sidharth Malhotra is going through a rough phase for sure when it comes to his solo movies. He may have tasted success with Kapoor & Sons last year, but it was his fellow co-star Fawad Khan who ran away with a lion's share of the praises. His solo flick in 2016, Baar Baar Dekho, was a huge disaster, and now this year too, A Gentleman is sharing a similar fate. The action entertainer, also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, is failing to draw the crowds, despite having a glossy trailer and sizzling songs.
As per the latest update shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter, the movie has shown a slight improvement from its Tuesday's collections (Rs 1.60 crore) by earning Rs 1.71 crore on Wednesday. This brings its total domestic collections to Rs 18.47 crore. Here's what he tweeted, "#AGentleman Fri 4.04 cr, Sat 4.36 cr, Sun 4.73 cr, Mon 2.03 cr, Tue 1.60 cr, Wed 1.71 cr. Total: ₹ 18.47 cr. India biz."
It is quite disappointing since A Gentleman was supposed to be a good earner with early predictions saying that the movie will get Rs 25 crore opening weekend. However, it is still struggling to gross even Rs 20 crore even after a week. The bad reviews and the low buzz, plus the problems in the North and the heavy rains in Mumbai, only added to the woes of the movie. Here's what our review had to say about A Gentleman - "Overall, A Gentleman is neither ‘Sundar’ nor ‘Susheel’ but turns out to be a ‘Risky’ affair for Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film has nothing going in its favour and can be easily avoided. In plain and simple words – It’s Boring."
With Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan releasing this Friday, there is not much hope for A Gentleman for a revival in fortunes.
