Here's why we say so...
There has always been a debate about who is the BIGGEST star in Bollywood!
Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan have been vying for this place for the past few years. While Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have been delivering MAMMOTH hits one after the other over the past two years, there has been talk about the other three. Hrithik is out of the race as he now has two back-to-back duds at the box office ( Bang Bang and Mohenjo Daro). So who is a BIGGER between Shah Rukh and Akshay?
While many will be tempted to take SRK's name, but
Akshay is a bigger star in terms of box office returns. Akshay does more than three films a year, which earn decent amount of money and give more money back to the industry than Shah Rukh Khan's films. If you see over the last three years, Shah Rukh has been seen in Happy New Year, Dilwale and Fan. On the other hand, Akshay was seen in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Of Duty, It's Entertainment, The Shaukeens, Baby, Gabbar Is Back, Brothers, Singh Is Bliing, Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom.
If we go year by year, here is the break up:
# Shah Rukh Khan collected Rs 203 crore courtesy
Happy New Year.
# Akshay Kumar earned Rs 212.47 crore courtesy
Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Of Duty, It's Entertainment and The Shaukeens.
SRK earned Rs 148.72 crore thanks to Dilwale
# AK netted Rs 355.73 crore via
Baby, Gabbar Is Back, Brothers and Singh Is Bliing.
# Shah Rukh's
Fan earned Rs 84.10 crore
# On the other hand, Akshay collected Rs 305.46 crore courtesy
Airlift, Housefull 3 and . Rustom
Looking at these numbers, its clear that Akshay has clearly outperformed Shah Rukh in the last three years. And hence, the former is a BIGGER star than the latter. Our trade expert - Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had also revealed to us that he is even more BANKABLE than any of the Khans. As he EXCLUSIVELY told us, "
Akshay may not have entered the Rs 200 crore club coz of a single film yet but his films release at regular intervals (every 3-4 months) and earn nearly Rs 80-90 crore each. That’s a steady stream of money that enters the industry after every three to four months. That makes him highly profitable for everyone. Despite not having a Rs 200 crore film, he is right up there with the Khans who release one film a year and earn more than 200 crore. He is quite clearly the ATM machine for the industry!"
So that proves Akshay is a BIGGER star than Shah Rukh! Do you agree with us? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
