Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal has surpassed all the expectations at the global box office. Since there was no big release last Friday, the space drama continued to remain the first choice for the cinegoers. Till now, the film has grossed Rs 198.83 crore (nett Rs 168.50 crore) in India and Rs 42.01 crore in the international markets. The film now stands with the grand total of Rs 240.84 crore and will enter the Rs 250 crore club by the end of its second week at the ticket windows.
Akshay earlier spilled the beans on how Mission Mangal happened and said, It just happened, he sketched out the story to me as I was leaving for a shoot of Kesari. I was bowled over but wondered how he would make it. We don’t make science films and this one was about a space mission. But I liked it enough to tell him, “We’ll make it.” He began writing it with (R) Balki sir. Then, Vidya (Balan), Sonakshi (Sinha), Taapsee (Pannu) and others came on board and we wrapped up the film in 32 days. When a film finishes without issues and negativity, it’s good karma."
Mission Mangal is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), or the Mangalyaan project launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in November 2013, to put a space probe in planet Mars' orbit. It jointly-partnered by Pad Man helmer R Balki and is directed by Jagan Shakti. The film also stars Nithya Menen, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in key roles. Anyway, have you liked the film?
