Here's why we say so...
After months of hype,
Akshay Kumar's Rustom clashed with Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro at the box office across the world. Two of the biggest films of the year crossed each others paths and while both the films were neck to neck, we have a clear winner. Yes, one film has trumped the other and we know which it is!
We had earlier told you how
Rustom won the promotional battle, while Mohenjo Daro won the screen space battle. Today again we revealed how won in the battle of reviews, but the game just finished as Rustom Rustom won in the box office battle too! Yes, it 4-1 in favour of Akshay Kumar's film now. But why do we say this?
The films released across India today and according to our trade expert
Rustom beat Mohenjo Daro in terms of occupancy and collections on the first half of day one. As trade expert Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor), revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY, " Rustom is significantly ahead of till now. Mohenjo Daro Rustom's opening occupancy across cinemas is anywhere between 40 to 50 per cent, while Mohenjo Daro's opening occupancy is about 30 per cent."
Many will think that Mohenjo Daro's 2600 screens will give it an edge in collections over Rustom's 2300 screens. However, the low occupancy of the former helps Akshay BEAT Hrithik once again. Talking about the predictions for day one's collections, Akshaye mentioned, "Looking at the current trends,
Rustom will make Rs 12.50 crore to Rs 13 crore on day one, while Mohenjo Do will make Rs 8 crore to Rs 8.50 crore."
