The film's star power and quirky plot will benefit the film...
Shaandaar, starring Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor, is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow and it seems that the film is set to have a massive opening. With the innovative marketing strategy, the buzz around the film is sky high and people are excited to see the film. Apart from marketing, the fresh pairing of Alia and Shahid has also got the audience excited. But the main question remains that how will it fare at the box office?
Exhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi reveals, "The film will have a fabulous opening. People are excited to see the film and the fresh pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film releases on Thursday which is Dussehra, followed by Moharram on Friday and then the weekend, so this four-day weekend will help the film to have a great opening."
The film's quirky plot, where two insomniacs (Shahid and Alia) fall in love during a destination wedding, will also help the film. As Akshaye adds, "The film has a very unique story and when you have Dharma Productions and Fox Star backing the film, you know people will come watch it. The soundtrack is amazing and the marketing strategies have worked wonders. I don' think there is anything that will stop this film from becoming a success."
"Shahid Kapoor has a huge following, but don't count Alia Bhatt out. You will be surprised that people want to see Alia more than Shahid. Yes, I know people who are more excited to see Alia on the screen. She has become very popular and this fresh jodi look amazing together an share a great chemistry which has created a huge buzz around the film" adds Rathi.
Talking about the figures, Akshaye suggests, "The full land-up cost, which includes your cost of production and your other promotional allowances, for Shaandaar is about Rs 60 crore. About the opening at the box office, with the huge buzz around the film, I believe the film will make around about Rs 15 crore on Day 1. In the worst case scenario also it will make Rs 12 crore on Day 1. It may even shatter records over the weekend as I guess it will collect around about Rs 45-50 crore. The film will make a good profit in its lifetime run at the box office. "
At the box office - Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and ABCD 2 stand at the top step currently. With Shaandaar being the single release this weekend and with no other BIG release till Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's release on November 12, we guess the positions of Tanu Weds Manu Returns and ABCD 2 look vulnerable. We guess Bajrangi Bhaijaan is safe for now, but Shaandaar will surely have a SHAANDAAR run at the box office for sure!
