Avengers: Infinity War has done something incredible at the box office. Something that can be the case study of what the Indian market demands. The movie has beaten two of the biggest Bollywood releases - Padmaavat and Baaghi 2. After beating their opening records, AIW has managed to race ahead in terms of second-day box office collections as well by collecting Rs 61.8 crore (Rs 30.3 crore on Friday and Rs 31.5 crore on Saturday).
Padmaavat featured an ensemble of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, with Aditi Rai Hyadari and Jim Sarbh in key roles. The movie garnered Rs 56 crore on day 2 in India. Then there is Tiger Shroff starrer actioner Baaghi 2, which has become the biggest hit in his career, minted Rs 45.50 crore in two days. Is this an eye opener for Bollywood as to what Indian audience really want to watch? Avengers: Infinity War has been 10 years in the making. The story of the film is a culmination of about 17 films (excluding Ant-Man because that fellow didn't show up this time). Looking back at the decade-long journey producer Kevin Feige has said in an interview, "In terms of [if] we could sit down and watch any movie we’ve made together and I’ll cringe at certain things and I’ll go, oh my God, oh I can’t believe we did that, I wish we had done this instead of that instead. That’s the minutiae level. And we…I don’t envision us doing special editions to change any of those things or anything like that. But that’s just the nature of working on something for so long and then at a certain point you just have to send it out into the world. In terms of big picture and looking at this Infinity War poster and all these cast members and all their costumes and all their looks and all their storylines that have brought us to this point, and I’m unbelievably proud of all of them. We are going to see Avengers: Infinity War break more box office records as days clock in. The next in line for the movie is dethroning Fate of the Furious from the spot of highest worldwide weekend grosser.
