Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra's Badhaai Ho has proved all the predictions wrong and turned out to be one of the biggest surprise hits of the year. Despite facing stiff competition from films like Baazaar and other releases, it remained the first choice for the movie goers. It currently stands with grand total of Rs 104 crore and has beaten the lifetime business of Ajay Devgn's Raid (Rs 103.67 crore) to become the ninth grosser of the year.
The light-hearted family entertainer will cross today Akshay Kumar's Gold (Rs 104.72 crore) to grab the eighth spot at the ticket windows. Though beating Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety will be a tough task as Aamir Khan's mega-budget film Thugs of Hindostan is hitting the screens this Thursday.
Talking about the great response, Ayushmann earlier said, "It is an overwhelming and a humbling moment for me as an actor. As an artiste, I have always backed concepts, filmmakers who were doing clutter breaking work. I think I have been lucky enough in my journey to have got the right films and I'm thankful to all my filmmakers for believing in me."
