After an average weekend, Shahid Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu is holding well in the weekdays but on the lower side. The social drama raked in Rs 2.91 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 29.33 crore. Overall, the response is just not up to the mark and we must say, BGMC is turning out to be a disappointing affair. Looking at the current scenario, the film is expected to earn Rs 35 crore in its opening week at the ticket windows.
Honestly, the film is just having two days to perform at the ticket windows as Varun-Anushka's Sui Dhaaga: Made In India and Sanya-Radhika's Pataakha will hit the screens post that the Shahid Kapoor starrer will face a huge screen crunch at the box office.
The film has received mixed reviews from the movie buffs the Shahid's performance has been lauded by the movie buffs. Our critic Dishya Sharma gave the film 2.5 stars and wrote, "The story has loopholes and is extremely slow. While Shahid tries his best to keep the batti chalu, the lights of this movie keep flickering and doesn’t give the shock it was meant to deliver. If you’re a Shahid Kapoor fan, the film is a treat. Otherwise, you could give this movie a skip."
