Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu is struggling to hold well in the weekdays. The social drama seems to be failed to strike the chord with the audience and the poor figures are example of that. It collected Rs 2.65 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 31.98 crore. Looking at the current trend, the film expected to earn between 34-35 crore in its opening week.
Since Shahid Kapoor was coming after the grand success of Padmaavat, Batti Gul Meter Chalu was expected to perform well but it seems the film failed to strike the chord with the audience. Though the movie buffs have loved the performance of Shasha in the film. Our critic Dishya Sharma gave the film 2.5 stars and wrote, "The story has loopholes and is extremely slow. While Shahid tries his best to keep the batti chalu, the lights of this movie keep flickering and doesn’t give the shock it was meant to deliver. If you’re a Shahid Kapoor fan, the film is a treat. Otherwise, you could give this movie a skip."
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Batti Gul Meter Chalu tells the story of how people are suffering from corruption in the electricity system. Since Sui Dhaaga is hitting the screens this Friday, BGMC will face a huge screen crunch at the ticket windows. Anyway, do you think the film will cross Rs 50 crore mark at the box office in its theatrical run? Tweet to us to let us know...
