Another Diwali, another Thalapathy Vijay release, another blockbuster on the cards. Bigil is turning out to be the first choice film for moviegoers this Diwali, not only setting fire to cinema halls down South, but also raking far more moolah than all the Bollywood releases put together in overseas markets. What’s more, the film is managing to hold its own in the Hindi belt, too, earning as much as Saand Ki Aankh and Made in China despite releasing on far lesser screens. Worldwide, where you’d have expected Housefull 4 to be neck-and-neck with Bigil, the Atlee directorial has left the Akshay Kumar starrer behind by some distance.
Check out the territorial breakup of Bigil over its first weekend below:
Tamil Nadu: 58 cr gross
AP/Telangana: 10 cr gross
Karnataka: 10 cr gross
Kerala: 10 cr gross
Rest of India: 2 cr gross
Overseas: 45 cr gross
Total (3 days): 135 cr gross
(All figures as per reputed trade expert Ramesh Bala)
At this rate, and with no other major Kollywood release next week, we wouldn’t be surprise if Bigil overtakes Mersal as both Vijay and Atlee’s highest grosser. The film also stars accomplished actors like Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Kathir, Daniel Balaji, and Hindi film star Jackie Shroff. So, have you watched Bigil yet?
