Since there was no big release in the last week, Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil continued its dominance at the Chennai box office. The sports drama grabbed the first spot for the third consecutive week at the ticket windows and it will continue its phenomenal run as there is no competition at the domestic market. The second position was taken by Karthi's Kaithi followed by Ayushmann Khurrana's Bala, Hollywood biggie Doctor Sleep and Sri Priyanka-Harish's Miga Miga Avasaram. Produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh, the film also stars Nayanthara, Vivek, Kathir, Jackie Shroff, Daniel Balaji, Anandaraj, Rajkumar, Devadarshini and Yogi Babu in key roles. It marks the third collaboration between director Atlee and Vijay after Theri and Mersal. Nayanthara has worked with Vijay in Sivakasi and Villu in the past and this is her third collaboration with the actor. The interval sequence of Bigil has been loved by the audience and interestingly, it is also Atlee's favourite scene in the film. He recently said that, “The railway scene towards the interval is my favourite bit of the film.” He also said that earlier Vetrimaaran character from Mersal was his favourite but now Rayyapan from Bigil has overtaken it. “Even you guys will like Rayyappan the most among the characters.” He also praised Vijay and quoted, that he is a "true human being who gives love and no hatred." When asked about working with Shah Rukh Khan, Atlee addressed, “I have a huge amount of love and respect for #SRK sir and he also loves my work.
