After facing quite a few hurdles in the production process, Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu is finally hitting the screens this Friday. The promo and songs of the social drama have received a decent response from the audience. Despite all that, the film lacks the commercial punch, which will definitely affect its opening day collections. As per our prediction, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is expected to earn around Rs 5 crore on its first day at the ticket windows.
Well, it is not a figure which Shahid Kapoor's fans would want this film to earn. Expected to be high on content, Batti Gul Meter Chalu will completely depend on word of mouth publicity to have a good opening weekend. The film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, who previously helmed Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. It also features Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Manto is also coming this Friday. The Nandita Das directorial, which narrates the journey of journalist Saadat Hasan Manto has garnered accolades and appreciation from various film festivals around the world. Though this won't help Manto to open big at the box office. It is expected to open around Rs 1 crore on Friday in the domestic market. But we can expect Manto to give a stiff competition to Batti Gul Meter Chalu in the multiplexes of metrocities. So, which is your pick for the weekend? Tweet to us to let us know...
