Black Panther, Marvel's first black standalone superhero film, is rocking the box office. No only has it broken records left, right and centre, but looks like there is nothing to stop its blockbuster run. Black Panther, even though several films released last Friday, has ruled the American box office during the Oscar 2018 weekend as it managed to rake in $65.70 million over the three days. Not only is this a massive amount, but also the 3rd highest third weekend collection in America till now. If you check out the third weekend collections of all the films released till date, you will realise what we are saying! Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($90.20 million) and Avatar ($68.50 million) lead the way in the list of highest third weekend grossers in America, followed by Black Panther ($65.70 million).
However, it is important to note that Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avatar got a major boost in collections courtesy the New Year weekend, while Black Panther did not enjoy such a holiday advantage. Quite clearly, the latest Marvel film is killing it at the box office. All this has been possible courtesy the fantastic pre release buzz, the amazing content, tremendous word of mouth publicity and amazing reviews. Everyone across the world has been raving about the movie, its storyline, its stunning visuals and the stellar acts by the cast. Our film critic - Anusha Iyengar also mentioned in her review, "You cannot miss this movie for the world. It’s so far one of the best superhero films you must have seen."
