Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari's Blackmail looked interesting ever since it was announced. The buzz around the film was sky high, so when it released on April 6, everyone thought it would fly out of the blocks. However, the Irrfan Khan starrer started off slowly, only to grow over the weekend and post a decent total. In fact, on day 3, Blackmail saw a fantastic upward trend as it raked in Rs 4.56 crore at the ticket window. With that, the film's total box office now stands at Rs 11.22 crore. Talking about the detailed box office collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter, "#Blackमेल puts up DECENT NUMBERS in its opening weekend. The BO performance is similar to #HindiMedium [Rs 12.56 crore], although that film had a lower screen count. Weekdays are crucial. Fri Rs 2.81 crore, Sat Rs 3.85 crore, Sun Rs 4.56 crore. Total: Rs 11.22 crore. India biz."
Considering that the film had a limited release and the start of the Indian T20 League hampered its run, Blackmail has performed very well. In fact, people and critics have loved the movie and they have been raving about it. This positive word of mouth publicity has enabled the film to see a growth in footfalls as well as collections. Talking about the film, our film critic - Ankita Chaurasia mentioned in her review, "Watching Blackmail is like riding a roller-coaster – you don’t know as to what will happen next but the mere thrill of it is enough to make you hop on. With so much amusement, it is no wonder that you don’t want the ride to end. It would be criminal to miss this one. An absolute must-watch!"
