After getting off to a disastrous start, the writing is truly on the wall for Saina, with the movie going nowhere on day two. With Rs. 30 lakh nett in its kitty on day two, Saturday, the Parineeti Chopra starrer stands at a meagre Rs. 55 lakh nett after two days at the box office and can be safely assumed to now be dead and buried with no hope of a comeback. The Saina Nehwal biopic looked decimated on the first day itself, but the trade usually waits till the next day to draw a conclusion in any case, and Saturday's collection has only confirmed everyone's fears, probably that of the makers, too. Neither the second wave of COVID-19, leading to a rapid rise in the number of infected nor the reinforced lockdown in some areas, especially in territories in Maharashtra, Delhi NCR and East Punjab, and not even night curfews in more than a few areas or 50% occupancy almost everywhere in theatres can be blamed for Saina's dismal box office numbers as there was little to no buzz the moment the teaser dropped, with the trailer doing the film no favours either, and it has reflected in the collections. To put things into perspective, Mumbai Saga, which hasn't done that well either after factoring in coronavirus restrictions, has registered almost 200% more collections at the box office that Saina on its ninth day. Let's not even go to what Godzilaa vs. Kong has done in comparison on its fourth day. In fact, Roohi's collections right thorugh its second week were better than that of Saina's total 2-day figure.
