Anurag Kashyap's film is off to a poor start with critics and fans bashing the film
Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet had a lot riding on it. Other than the insane amount of money mounted on the film, this flick is very important for two its lead actors.
Ranbir Kapoor desperately needed a hit after Roy tanked at box office. Karan Johar is making his acting debut in the film. Everyone was looking forward for this stylised period saga from Kashyap. But looking at the first day box office figures, it doesn't look too good for Bombay Velvet. The Ranbir-Anushka starrer has made a meager Rs 5.2 crore at the box office on the opening day, which is not so great compared to the hype surrounding the film.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted," #BombayVelvet Fri ₹ 5.20 cr. India biz. D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R." The film has been panned severely by critics for being all style and no substance. In fact, the first day first shows of Bombay Velvet were cancelled in B cities due the lack of audience. Going by the negative word of mouth review that is doing rounds, things are not looking so great for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet. Will the film manage to improve its box office performance in coming days? Lets wait and watch.
