Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari's Blackmail hit the screen today and while the film is quite interesting, it has started off slowly at the domestic box office. According to trade sources, Blackmail has managed to register just 10 - 20 per cent in the morning and afternoon shows across India. Being released in 1500 screens in the country, we expected Blackmail to take a much better opening, however it could only manage only an average start. However, with the word of publicity picking up, we are sure the movie will see an upward trend and end day one on a decent note. According to us, it should rake in Rs 2.50 - 3 crore on day one.
Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani's Baaghi 2, on the other hand, continued to dominate the domestic box office as it outperformed all the other films playing at the theatres, including Blackmail. Not only has it registered a higher number of footfalls in its second Friday (day 8, April 06), but it will also earn a larger amount. We expect it to earn anywhere between Rs 5 - 7 crore today (April 06). In fact, according to us Baaghi 2 will continue to dominate the box office over the weekend too, while Blackmail and Hichki will follow suit. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Raid will now end their run at the box office. Anyway, coming back to Blackmail, the film is a dark comedy about a man who secretly blackmails his wife after discovering that she is cheating on him. The film has got decent reviews and it should perform well at the domestic box office. Our film critic - Ankita Chaurasia also gushed about the movie, as she mentioned in her review, "Watching Blackmail is like riding a roller-coaster – you don’t know as to what will happen next but the mere thrill of it is enough to make you hop on. With so much amusement, it is no wonder that you don’t want the ride to end. It would be criminal to miss this one. An absolute must-watch!" Anyway, what do you guys have to say about the movie?
