As expected Akshay Kumar's Gold and John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate opened with a bumper response at the ticket windows. While Akshay's sports drama registered around 70 per cent, John's masala entertainer opened with around 50 per cent occupancy in the morning shows pan India. Looking at the current scenario, it seems both the stars will get their highest solo openers with their latest outings respectively. Akshay's Gold has got a phenomenal response in the metro cities, on the other hand, John's Satyameva Jayate dominated the massy centres and single screens at the box office.
Both the films will show substantial growth in the evening and night shows and we might get the collections of over Rs 30 crore combining the total of Gold and Satyameva Jayate. Talking about Gold, it is inspired by true events and is about India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at Games of the XIV Olympiad, London. The story won’t just narrate what happened that night but will also take us closer to live of the players in the team. The movie is directed by Reema Kagti, who previously helmed movies like Talaash and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.
On the other hand, Satyameva Jayate is an edgy thriller which is produced under the banner of Emmay Entertainment. The film also features Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in key roles. It marks the directorial debut of writer Milap Milan Zaveri.
