And as expected both Bollywood biggies, Mission Mangal and Batla House, which released today have received a great start at the box office. Though Mission Mangal is ahead of Batla House in the race but that was expected due to the star power and content of the film. With a great start, we are sure that both films will stand with a huge opening day at the ticket windows.
Starting with Mission Mangal, the space drama has garnered an occupancy of around 70 per cent, which is huge for a film of this genre. In fact, it has registered better occupancy than Salman Khan's Bharat in few cities. Earlier, we have predicted that it has all the chances to emerge Akshay Kumar's biggest opener by earning over Rs 30 crore and by looking at the early response, it surely looks possible. Mission Mangal is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), or the Mangalyaan project launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in November 2013, to put a space probe in planet Mars' orbit. It jointly-partnered by Pad Man helmer R Balki and is directed by Jagan Shakti. The film also stars Nithya Menen, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in key roles.
Coming to Batla House, the cop actioner has registered around 50 per cent occupancy and will definitely grow as the day progresses. By looking at the early trends, Batla House can challenge John's Satyameva Jayate's first-day collections but whether it will happen or not, we can say at the end of the day. The film also features Nora Fatehi and Mrunal Thakur in key roles.
