Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree and Sunny Deol's Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se have released today at the ticket windows. And it seems that box office has taken an unexpected opening in the morning shows. Rajkummar and Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy has taken a better opening than Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, which had a huge ensemble cast of Sunny Deol, Dharmendra, Bobby Deol and Kriti Kharbanda. Talking about the opening, Stree had opened around 30 per cent, while YPD Phir has registered the opening of around 20 per cent in the morning shows.
The horror-comedy is primarily targeted towards multiplex audiences, while the third installment of the YPD franchise caters to the single screens and massy centres, especially in the northern circuit, where the lead casts enjoy a huge fan base. Made on the moderate budget of Rs 20 crore, Stree has already recovered its investment through music, digital and satellite rights. So, we must say the horror-comedy affair is already entering the profit zone.
Stree also has an upper hand over Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, the Rajkummar Rao starrer has received rave reviews, while the latter has got below average reviews. Our critic Ankita Chaurasia, who watched both films has given three-and-a-half stars to Stree, while for Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, which failed her to impress, got one- and-a-half-rating.
