The film becomes Akshay's biggest day 1 earner!
Karan Malhotra's much awaited action drama, Brothers which stars Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in lead roles, finally hit screens yesterday. The film opened to a warm response with an occupancy of about 40 - 50 per cent in the morning shows and was expected to pick up more pace in the evening and night shows. With the kind of reviews pouring in from critics and audiences, seems like the film has managed to please them both bringing in Rs 15.20 crore at the domestic box office on day 1.
This makes the film Akshay's biggest opener. The last film to come close to Brothers was Rowdy Rathore which earned Rs 15.10 on its opening day.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures on his Twitter account saying that the film's business is likely to get better, given the Independence Day holiday. He tweeted, "#Brothers Fri Rs. 15.20 cr. India biz... Expect GOOD jump in biz today [Independence Day holiday]"
