The Akshay Kumar-Sdharth Malhotra-starrer has garnered Rs. 52.08 crore over the first weekend...
After a dry run in the first quarter of the year, Bollywood has started gaining back the momentum as the box office numbers improve. Last month we saw a tremendous upsurge as Bajrangi Bhaijaan raked in a monstrous Rs. 102.60 crore over its first weekend, but it seems that the good trend continues as Brothers which released this Friday raked in the second highest weekend collections of the year as it collected Rs. 52.08 crore over the weekend. The film displaced Varun Dhawan's ABCD 2 which was on second spot till today with Rs. 45.30 crore.
Brothers is the second film of the year to break the 50 crore mark over the weekend and it is interesting to know that it has overtaken all the weekend collection of all the Akshay Kumar releases of 2015. Brothers raked in Rs. 15.20 crore on Friday, Rs. 21.43 crore on Saturday and Rs. 15.45 crore on Sunday, to take its overall total to Rs. 52.08 crore over the first weekend.
As trade analyst Komal Nahata tweeted:
Brothers first weekend: Rs. 52.08 crore. Very good.
Though the film has seen a drop in collections on Sunday, it is being highly appreciated and is set to have a good word of mouth publicity over this week. It will be interesting to see if the film can break the Rs 100 crore mark by the end of the week and also overtake the overall collections of ABCD2
, Gabbar is Back
as Bajrangi Bhaijaan
may just be out of the reach of this Akshay Kumar
-Sidhath Malhotra starrer film.
