Dwayne Johnson starrer Jumanji: The Next Level was the first choice for the cine-goers across the country in the last weekend. The action-adventure film, which earned over Rs 25 crore, has grabbed the top spot at the Chennai box office beating films like Venky Mama, Mardaani, Kaalidas and Iruttu. Interestingly, we saw the dominance of Tamil films this time in the Chennai city.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, the film also features Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain, and Madison Iseman in key roles. The fantasy comic adventure "Jumanji: The Next Level" picks up where 2017's "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" left off, but there is a difference. The twist is that the grandfather (played by Danny DeVito) of one of the game's original players and his old time buddy (Danny Glover) get transported into the game, too.
The film has garnered positive reviews across the globe. Our in-house critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave the film 3 stars and wrote, "Jumanji: The Next Level is a fun entertainer that you would not mind watching over the weekend. It is a stress buster flick for kids and adults." She also praised the performances of the star cast and wrote, "Dwayne Johnson is a scene stealer from the start and he is ably supported by the cast. Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, Awkwafina, and Danny Clover are spontaneous and bring a smile on your face. However, the star in the acting department is Danny DeVito. He is terrific as the cranky grandpa and his best is reserved for the last. The action sequences are fun to watch especially the one with the mandrills. Jumanji: The Next Level is a visual treat and the frozen kingdom of Jurgen leaves you spellbound. The actors seem to share a great rapport and the camaraderie shines through."
