Chennai box office: Vijay Sethupathi's Junga TRUMPS Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Fallout to bag the numero uno position

Despite dominating globally, Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Fallout has failed to beat Vijay Sethupathi's Junga at the ticket windows. The Tamil gangster comedy featuring Vijay and Sayyeshaa has trumped the sixth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise to grab the top spot at the Chennai box office.

Karthi's Kadai Kutty Singam has grabbed the third position while Tamizh Padma 2 settle for the fourth spot. Trisha Krishnan's Mohini debuted at the box office on the fifth place. Talking about Junga, Vijay portrays the character of a gangster but unlike Vikram Vedha, this character will have humorous shades. Junga is Sethupathy’s home production. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Madonna Sebastian, Suresh Chandra Menon, Radha Ravi, Yogi Babu and Saranya Ponvannan in pivotal roles. Junga is written and directed by Gokul and the music is composed by Siddharth Vipin.

Talking about Karthi's Kadai Kutty Singam, which still manages to attract the audience in its third week is directed by Pandiraj and features Sayyeshaa in a pivotal role. Karthi, who plays the character of a farmer in the film has said, “No matter how well-read or educated we become, we still need to realise the importance of family, and how no amount of money can match the wealth of strong relationships. That’s what the film is about.” The film is produced Karthi's brother and superstar Suriya.
