Chris Hemsworth's Thor: Ragnarok has continued its dream run at the domestic box office. Despite several new releases, the film remained strong at the ticket windows even in its third week. Till now, the film has collected Rs 56.87 crore and with this business Thor: Ragnarok has surpassed the lifetime collections of Spiderman: Homecoming (Rs 55 crore) to become 2017's highest grosser for a Marvel film. The total gross collection of the movie is Rs 72.91 crore.
Thor: Ragnarok has already become the most successful film in the Thor franchise in India. The third instalment, which also features Tom Hiddleston’s (Loki), Cate Blanchett’s ( Hela), Idris Elba’s (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum’s (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson’s (Valkyrie) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / Hulk) received rave reviews from critics and huge praises for its VFX, technical aspects, direction and acting performances. The audience also applauded the superb direction of Taika Waititi. Lead actor Chris Hemsworth, who is an Australian actor had requested the makers to shoot the film there, and the actors felt really lucky when the makers agreed on that.
To create a big buzz around the film before its release, the makers had created a strategy for the Indian market. They decided to tour Thor figurines around the country. Amrita Pandey the Vice President of Disney India said, “At the Studio, we felt this tentpole release deserves a celebration of sorts, so to extend this excitement beyond the screen, we thought it would be a great idea to activate an on-ground event, giving Marvel, Thor and Hulk fans to meet their favourite character.” It seems the strategy worked really well for the makers as the box office numbers make it quite evident.
