The audience came out in droves yesterday, Sunday, 1st December, resulting in a much-needed shot in the arm for Commando 3. The biggest push came from multiplexes, which were down over the first two days, which single screens continued their steady grown pan-India. The good news is that the jumps are evenly distributed throughout tier-1, 2 and 3 cities, which augurs well for the Vidyut Jammwal starrer going forward. It also keeps Director Aditya Datt poised for his first clean hit. Only two of the filmmaker’s erstwhile releases, Table No. 21 and Aashiq Banaya Aapne, ended up being average grossers.
With a haul of Rs. 8 crore nett on Sunday, the third installment of the Commando franchise has hitherto collected Rs. 18.33 crore nett – the biggest weekend haul of the action series so far – and now looks good to emerge as the first film in the franchise to enjoy a successful theatrical run. The other two films were average grossers, but turned over profits from their digital and satellite releases, prompting the go-ahead for the third entry.

If Commando 3 holds well over the weekdays, it has every chance to end up being a solid hit at the box-office given the moderate costs involved. The film also stars Adah Sharma, Angira Dhar and Gulshan Devaiah.
