Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15, which released yesterday has opened to a decent response at the ticket windows. Despite facing stiff competition from Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh, the hard-hitting drama raked in Rs 5.02 crore on its first day at the box office. By looking at the current scenario, we are expecting the film to show substantial growth on Saturday and Sunday and cross the Rs 20 crore mark in its first weekend.
Article 15 is based on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that prohibits discrimination of Indians on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, and it takes inspiration from true life events. When asked if Article 15 should be declared tax-free, Ayushmann said, "I definitely feel that this film should be declared as a tax free film because it is necessary that this film should reach every part of the country. It's not a comedy or an entertaining film. It is based on a vital subject, so it should reach maximum number of people."
Article 15 has garnered positive reviews from all around the corners. Our critic Urmimala Banerjee gave the film 4 stars and wrote, "The most powerful aspect of Article 15 is its honesty. It does not shy away from telling harsh truths as they are. It is a courageous film from start to the end. Anubhav Sinha and Gaurav Solanki have written it very well. The dialogues have dark humour and are extremely thought-provoking. They will stay with you for a really long time." Anyway, have you watched the film? Tweet to us @bollywood_life
