After faring well on Sunday, Sushant's latest outing failed to pass the crucial Monday test at the box office...
Dibakar Banerjee's directorial venture Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead hasn't really got cash registers jingling. The film which released last Friday had created great buzz but going by the box office figures it seems Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! hasn't lived up to all the expectations. Sushant starrer thriller fared decently over the first weekend and ended up collecting Rs 14.06 crore. But on Monday Banerjee's film did below average business by collecting only Rs 1.68 crore at the Indian box office. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated figures a while back. He wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter, "#DetectiveByomkeshBakshy Fri 4.20 cr, Sat 4.50 cr, Sun 5.36 cr, Mon 1.68 cr. Total - 15.74 cr. India biz."
Trade portal Boxofficeindia reported, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy fell badly on Monday. The film had to gross over 2 crore nett at least on Monday to have some sort of respectable final total but has no chance now. The film will probably close the week at around 19 crore nett and will not make much thereafter and may not even reach the 23 crore nett business of Shanghai."
While Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! impressed the critics big time, the same cannot be said about the audience. On other hand, Furious 7 which released just a day before Sushant's film is doing extremely well at the Indian BO. Not only it has become the biggest opener in India this year, the action thriller has continued pull in crowd to the cinema halls ever since its release.
With Sunny Leone's Ek Paheli Leela hitting the screens this week, things may get even more tough for Dibakar Banerjee's film at the box office.
