Dibakar Banerjee's much-awaited film has finally hit the theaters today and looks like its going to get cash registers jingling as well...
Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! managed to garnered great buzz and now its off to a good start at the box office too. Despite tough competition from Hollywood action thriller Furious 7, Dibakar Banerjee's directorial venture has attracted moviegoers to the cinema halls. That's not surprising considering the detective flick got rave reviews from the critics. Trade portal Box Officeindia reported, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! had a fair start of around 30-35%. It is a holiday for Good Friday which has helped. The first day should record fair numbers but it's fate is dependent on where it goes thereafter."
The website further stated, "The film is facing competition from Fast & Furious 7 which has extraordinary first day business as was released a day earlier on Thursday at most places. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is for multiplex audience so despite Friday being a holiday it will have to at least hold at same level on Saturday, growth would be a plus."
While Sushant starrer is expected to rake in good money, on the other hand, Furious 7 starring late Paul Walker and Vin Diesel has already smashed all the box office records in India. The latest installment of Fast and Furious franchise has raked in around Rs 11 crore on day 1 and this excluding the collections of Telugu and Tamil versions. And that has made Furious 7 the biggest opener of 2015 in India so far.
