Zoya Akhtar's latest release, Dil Dhadakne Do, opened to a warm start. The family drama which stars Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra is being appreciated by audiences and critics alike. It's no wonder then that the film managed to get cash registers jingling earning a total of Rs 56.10 crore in its first week on the domestic front.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared a breakdown of per day earning of the film on his Twitter handle. He tweeted, "#DilDhadakneDo Fri 10.53 cr, Sat 12.27 cr, Sun 14.25 cr, Mon 5.77 cr, Tue 5.09 cr, Wed 4.48 cr, Thu 3.71 cr. Total: ₹ 56.10 cr. India biz."
Given that Dil Dhadakne Do is set in a very urbane cultural backdrop, it was expected to attract a niche audiences doing well only in the metros or a few big cities. Considering the limited geographic reach of the film, the numbers it has brought in are simply great. Part of the film's success is owed to its ensemble cast and part to the positive word of mouth publicity the film has gained.
