The film continues to perform well at the domestic box office...
Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez's Dishoom released last Friday and while there was an average buzz around the film, it opened to decent numbers on day one (Rs 11.05 crore). With a good word of mouth publicity flowing for the film, it saw a good growth on Saturday and Sunday as it collected Rs 12.02 crore and Rs 14.25 crore on day 2 and day 3 respectively. This meant that the film amassed a total of Rs 37.32 crore over the weekend.
Even though these is a very good start, we hear that the film could have done even better had the rain not played spoilsport. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed in his tweet, "#Dishoom Fri 11.05 cr, Sat 12.02 cr, Sun 14.25 cr. Total: Rs 37.32 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT! #Dishoom biz was affected due to heavy rains in various parts of the country [torrential rains in Mumbai]. Else, biz would've been higher."
We even hear that Bangalore had a bandh on Sunday, which affected the film. So Dishoom could have easily touched Rs 40 crore had these detrimental factors stayed away. In the meanwhile, the movie has garnered positive reviews from both the critics as well as the movie going audience. Varun Dhawan and John Abraham's film has no competition this week as no other film released last Friday. On top of it, Salman Khan's Sultan and Rajnikanth's Kabali are also declining now. So, the latest release will benefit.
Our trade expert Amul Mohan (Editor of Super Cinema) had predicted that Dishoom's box office collection after day 3 would be around Rs 30-32 crore and looks like it has outperformed everyone's expectations.
