Despite starting off on a slow note, the Ayushmann-Bhumi starrer has managed rake in decent amount at the box office...
Dum Laga Ke Haisha which released last Friday impressed the critics big time however the film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and newbie Bhumi Pednekar didn't have great opening. On day 1, the breezy romantic venture raked in only Rs 1.11 crore at the domestic box office. But Sharat Katariya directorial fared well over the weekend courtesy good word-of-mouth. On Saturday (day 2) the Yash Raj film collected Rs 2.13 crore and on Sunday (day 3) Dum Laga Ke Haisha registered even better figures. The film grossed Rs 2.85 crore thus bringing its opening weekend collection to Rs 6.8 crore which is impressive considering it doesn't star any A-lister.
And now the Monday figures are out and Ayushmann starrer has sailed through with good collection. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on the popular social networking Twitter a while back, "#DumLagaKeHaisha passes crucial 'Monday test'. Fri 1.11 cr, Sat 2.13 cr, Sun 2.85 cr, Mon 1.08 cr. Total - 7.17 cr. India biz."
Adarsh also tweeted, "#DumLagaKeHaisha records more footfalls on Mon [35% to 40%] when compared to Fri at most cinemas. Bravo."
Trade portal Boxofficeindia reported, "The Monday business ensures a good run for the film over the next 2-3 weeks and will put up a decent lifetime total, or even a good one if it holds on for longer. There were centres which recorded better figures on Monday than Friday but they were the ones where the opening was very weak."
