Fulfilling the dire need for entertainment, Jathi Ratnalu emerges as a box office winner worldwide after having raked in 1 million dollars in the US, becoming the first and only Indian movie to have achieved the feat post lockdown. Interestingly, the movie was made at a meagre budget of just Rs. 6 crore, with another 6 crore added for its print and adverstising. As per our well-placed trade source in the South film industry, the film has already grossed over Rs. 60 crore in the domestic market, with a distributor share of over Rs. 30 crore. At a time when the Indian film industry has nearly given up on the overseas market for the immediate future, the spectacular box office success of Naveen Polishetty's Jathi Ratnalu has amazed the trade and makers alike.
Reviewed as a laugh riot, Jathi Ratnalu has put the spotlight on Telugu cinema and actors Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna. The trio has been lauded for their impeccable comic timing which has translated into a phenomenal response internationally and at the home turf. Appreciation for the movie has come from stars such as Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu.
Besdie themselves with excitement, the producers of Jathi Ratnalu said, “We take pride in making movies that entertain the masses and have the potential to shake off the inertia. Jathi Rathnalu has emerged as a reason to laugh and as producers, that's what we aimed for. A big thanks to the writers for cultivating humour that sat so well the audience and the critics. We have the world to thank for the success that the film is currently witnessing overseas.”
Produced by Nag Ashwin under his Swapna Cinema banner, Jathi Ratnalu is written and directed by Anudeep KV, and stars Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakrishna and Faria Abdullah, with Murali Sharma, Brahmanandam and Naresh in pivotal supporting roles.
