Though SRK's big budget film is doing well at the ticket windows, it hasn't surpass the first week collection of Kick and Dhoom:3
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah starrer Happy New Year has broken many records at the domestic and international box office. The musical extravaganza which released on October 24 has completed a week in theaters and so far raked in Rs 157.57 crore at Indian box office. Apart from becoming the fastest film to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club, HNY is also one of biggest openers overseas. While all these records are pretty impressive, HNY hasn't been able to break the record of Salman Khan's Kick and Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom:3.
We say so because at the end of first week Happy New Year's domestic box office collection stands at Rs 157.57 crore whereas Salman's Kick had earned Rs 164.09 crore and the third installment of Dhoom franchise had minted Rs 188.98 crore in the same duration.
With hardly any competition at the box office, Shah Rukh and Deepika's film will continue to do good business at the box office but will it become the highest grossing film of Bollywood? Well, for now to surpass the lifetime collection of Dhoom:3 looks a daunting task but you never know, hai na? So let's wait and watch!
