After impressing the audience in India, Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar's Hindi Medium is killing it at the China box office. The film has been raking in the big bucks at the Chinese market, however, looks like the film has slowed down in the second week. On day 14, the film added another $0.41 million (Rs 2.69 crore) to take its overall box office tally to $30.23 million (Rs 198.64 crore) in China. Looking at the current trends, Hindi Medium should cross the Rs 200 crore mark today (April 18) and become the fourth Indian film (after Dangal, Secret Superstar, Bajrangi Bhaijaan) to do so in China.
Hindi Medium has performed so well courtesy the film's fantastic content and tremendous word of mouth publicity that it got. For those of you who do not know, the film revolves around the story of a couple who struggle to get their daughter into the most elite school of Delhi. The couple crave for acceptance by the elite class and hence, when their daughter fails to get admission, they pose as poor people to get her into this school through the below poverty line quota. What follows next will entertain one and all. This comic and intriguing plot made the audience and critics rave about the film and hence, Hindi Medium could rake in such a huge amount of money in China. Looking at the current trends, Hindi Medium should rake in Rs 205 - 225 crore in its lifetime run at the China box office.
